General
Vintage created the Midge Ure Signature Gold together with the Scottish singer, guitarist and composer. Ure, perhaps best known as the frontman of '80s band Ultravox, put his many years of experience into creating this model. The result is the Vintage V100MU Midge Ure Signature which is based on Vintage's V100 model. This version, however, has a number of special features including a vibrola tailpiece. The V100MU's top has a classic gold-coloured finish with cream-coloured bindings, pickups and pickguard.
Vintage V100MU: special single-cut model
The single-cutaway body is made of mahogany with an arched maple top. The maple neck is set-in and features trapezium inlays on the 22-fret rosewood fretboard. These materials combine to give the V100MU a sweet and full sound with lots of sustain. Stacked WP90SK Wilkinson pickups offer a fat, powerful P-90 sparkle without hum! A unique feature on the V100MU is the classic vibrola-style tailpiece that allows you to add lush vibrato effects. This model stays perfectly in tune too, thanks to the Wilkinson bridge with roller saddles and E-Z Lok machine heads.
The Vintage brand
Vintage Guitars started out as a budget brand that somewhat justifiably garnered a number of negative reviews. However, that changed drastically when Trevor Wilkinson, famed for his affordable yet high-quality guitar parts, attached his name to the Vintage brand. Not only did Vintage's hardware division receive a shot of quality, the wood selection and construction methods were also vastly improved. Since then, Vintage has made a name for itself by offering excellent value for money, and now more than holds its own among the ferocious competition in this price range.
