The Yamaha CPX700II is the little brother of the CPX1000, and shares most of the same specifications except for the chic inlays and gold-plated hardware. This model also makes use of the same exclusive ART pickup system as the CPX1000. The CPX700II NT has a medium jumbo sized body with a solid spruce top, giving it the characteristic CPX sound with powerful, rich lows, velvety mids and sweet highs. This electro-acoustic guitar has a comfortable nato neck and a cutaway in the body that gives you easy access to the entire range of the 20-fret rosewood fretboard.
Most traditional electro-acoustic guitars use a piezo strip that's built into the bridge for amplification, but the CPX700II NT is equipped with Yamaha's Acoustic Resonance Transducer (ART) pickup system, which is quite different. This system consists of two round electric piezo contact pickups mounted on the inside of the guitar right under the bridge. This means that they pick up the vibrations from the whole body rather than the strings, resulting in an amplified sound that stays truer to the original acoustic sound. The special multi-layer construction of the pickups also means that they react much better to the dynamics of your playing, which helps avoid feedback.
Before the sound from the pickups reaches the jack output, it first goes through the CPX700II's built-in preamplifier. This System64 preamp system by Yamaha offers volume control and a 3-band equalizer that allows you to precisely adjust the sound to fit your needs. With the AMF slide switch you can also adjust the important mid-frequencies with great detail and you can use it to avoid feedback. Finally, the preamplifier is equipped with a digital tuner with an LCD screen so you can easily keep your guitar in tune on even the darkest of stages. The system is powered by two AA batteries which can be reached via the handy built-in battery compartment on the side of the guitar.
