General
The Alesis Surge Mesh Kit is an electronic drum kit with mesh pads that offer a natural feel and a great response. The 10-inch snare and three 8-inch toms all feature dual-zone mesh pads that can give you two different sounds depending on whether you strike the middle or the edge. There's an 8-inch mesh bass pad tower too that comes with a pedal and three 10-inch cymbal pads are also included. The crash and ride both have a choke function and the hi-hat comes with a pedal. You also get a robust rack to mount everything on, all the cables you need, drumsticks, a drum key and a power adapter.
Alesis Surge Mesh Module
The Surge Module is the beating heart of the Surge Mesh kit. It offers no fewer than 385 sounds and has 24 kits built in with extra room for you to store your own kits too. It's possible to connect a smartphone, tablet or any other music player via the mini jack auxiliary input or you can play along with any one of the Surge's 60 built-in tracks. There's a learning function that's handy for improving your skills and studying patterns, rhythms and beats. The built-in metronome is handy for helping you keep time and you can also record your performances so that you can listen to them again at a later time.
Possibilities
The Surge Mesh can be connected to a computer via the USB MIDI port and there are standard MIDI inputs and outputs as well . There are stereo outputs for connecting equipment like an amplifier or a mixer and a headphone socket so that you can practise to your heart's content without disturbing others. There are also extra inputs that allow you to connect an additional tom and cymbal if you like.

Only drawback so far seems to be the limited drum sounds available- the default one out the box is a classic rock sound and is pretty good, but then most other ones are then wierd & wonderful rather than variations on rock sounds (which is what I want.). Again, time will tell as I experiment more. Would def recommend it tho s far!

Het drumstel is erg degelijk en alle benodigheden om het drumstel te monteren zitten erbij. De handleiding is wel wat karig maar uiteindelijk lukt het wel.
De respons van het drumstel is wat mij betreft erg goed en realistisch hoewel het voor mij als beginnende drummer soms lastig is om niet de rand maar het vel te raken vanwege de beperkte grote van de toms. Snare is wel groot genoeg.
Al met al een prima aankoop waar ik waarschijnlijk alleen maar meer plezier van ga beleven zodra ik het drummen beter onder de knie heb.
