General
The Yamaha DTX450K digital drum kit is the most advanced model in the attractive DTX400 entry level series. Bring home a complete and trustworthy set, outfitted with high-quality drum sounds and useful practice programs. The DTX450K is made special by the addition of the TP70S pad, which divides the snare drum into three different surfaces, making more rimshots possible!
The comfortable and complete Yamaha DTX450K
Each of the DTX450K models has a snare, two toms, a floor tom, a crash cymbal, a ride cymbal, a hi-hat, a kick drum, and a pedal board. The DTX450K and DTX430K, however, offer a real kick drum pedal and an advanced hi-hat which assists with the 'half open' technique. Of course the DTX450K also stands out with its 3-zone snare drum, which creates a more subtle effect. The silent stroke surfaces are made of rubber, so the drum sticks won't slip after hitting.
10 functional practice tools
A handy component of the DTX400 module lies in the 10 practice tools, that both beginners and advanced players can use to endlessly refine their technique. Use Groove Check to evaluate whether your strokes coincide with the beat. Rhythm Gate is another practical tool that will only allow you to hear your strokes when they are in sync with the beat. Check if you're on tempo with Measure Break, which silences the metronome after every few beats.
Connections and extensions
Connect either your headphones or an optional drum monitor to the drum module, and you are ready to get started. Use the audio input (3.5 mm stereo mini-jack) to easily play along with, for example, the music on your MP3 player. The USB connection is useful for switching out demo songs with other MIDI files. You can also connect to your computer and use VST drum kit plug-ins with an optional sequencer (e.g. Cubase).
Tips or comments about this product
This drum kit requires a surface of approximately 1 by 1 metre.
You can use 'regular' drum sticks to play a digital drum kit. In digital drumming, the shape of the tip of your drum sticks is of lesser importance. We do, however, recommend that you use a wooden tip, as it does not leave as many marks.
Via the Yamaha website you can download a Pad/Module Compatibility Table that shows you the compatibility between all of Yamaha's pads/cymbals and sound modules.
