If you know a thing or two about modular synthese, then you'll understand that different modules combine to form a synthesizer. The advantage of this is that you have enormous freedom to design your own sonic architecture, but it also means you need a lot of modules to built your synth sounds. The Roland System-500 510 Synth Eurorack module is a perfect option because it's a single module with (analogue) oscillators, a filter (LPF + HPF) and connection options for modulation sources. This is slightly more comfortable (and affordable) than the equivalent in individual modules.
