General

The Magneto Four Head dTape Echo & Looper is Strymon's very first Eurorack module. It offers warm, 'gooey' saturated tape soundscapes as well as plenty of versatility, resulting in a total of five separate modules: a Four Head Tape Echo, Sound on Sound Looper, Spring Reverb, Clock Multiplier and Self-Oscillator.

Strymon Magneto: Inter-stellar space machine

The Magneto combines inspiring hands-on and voltage-controlled parameters for sublime audio quality. The module provides the deep, tasteful sound of Strymon's Four Head dTape Echo machine with complete control over the characteristics. Experiment with the Sound on Sound looper, which has a direct tape connection and loop triggering. The module is equipped with CV control for multiple parameters and tape speed control that's separate from the tempo. Record the warm, inviting tape sounds in your modular rig and enjoy endless ways to express yourself creatively!

Five modules in one

The Four Head dTape system offers detailed warmth and details like Wow & Flutter, Record Level and Low Cut that are easy to control using various sensitive buttons. Adjust the tape quality using Tape Age and Crinkle and take your sound to outer-space with the Echo and the Sound on Sound functions. The independent Spring Reverb provides an impressive effect for even more dimensions in your audio.

Harmony

The Clock Multiplier is driven by the pre-determined tempo or via a clock input. The fourth head is responsible for the quarter note and the others can be configured in selectable sub-divisions of sixteenth notes, triplet rhythm or uneven spacing. Every head has its own Clock Out jack and you can control them by means of a trigger or just let them do their thing. The Self-Oscillator has no input and the Speed button also functions as a pitch control so you can use the Magneto as an audio source with speed, filtering and frequency for the best harmonic content you can get!

Het onderhoud aan mijn Roland RE-501 tape delay werkt misschien wel therapeutisch, maar op een gegeven moment geraak je het wel beu. Daarenboven ging er natuurlijk altijd iets mis wanneer je op het punt stond om iets op te nemen. Daarom, na lang wikken en wegen een Magneto gekocht. Past perfect in mijn bestaande eurorack, de functionaliteiten overtreffen mijn oude tape dalay en de klank komt echt dicht in de buurt van het originele! Heel tevreden gebruiker!

De Strymon Magneto is voor mij de verrassing van het jaar! Ik heb nog nooit een bandecho bezeten, maar met de Magneto worden mysteries opgelost. Ik weet nu eindelijk hoe Tangerine Dream bepaalde effecten op hun album Ricochet maakte, Het geluid wordt weliswaar digitaal opgewekt maar is authentiek. Je kunt dankzij veel spanningsgestuurde ingangen diverse facetten van het geluid beïnvloeden. Vier vertragingslijnen zorgen voor echo's, die eindeloos kunnen worden herhaald, wat bijdraagt tot het unieke geluid. De kwaliteit van de virtuele magnetische band kan ook worden aangepast. Een virtuele verengalm maakt het plaatje compleet. De (hoge) prijs gaat een beetje op en neer, maar Bax is altijd de goedkoopste en levert razendsnel, nu ook 's avonds. Voor iedere muzikant die het experiment niet schuwt en houdt van dynamische geluidslandschappen.
