The Discrete 8 by Antelope Audio is engineered for serious users. The brand has established their position as market leaders in high-end (clocking)systems, and the Discrete 8 is equipped with the best features Antelope Audio have to offer. For starters, it's equipped with eight independent (discrete) preamps that have been completely rebuilt to facilitate the device's new microphone-modelling platform. You'll also find acclaimed real-time AFX effects as well as possibilities for re-amping a direct guitar signal.

The ultimate audio interface?

The modelling technology in the Discrete 8 was developed by Antelope engineers and enables users to record with or without modelling effects. With the help of the built-in modelling tool, you can create your own custom microphone/preamp combinations. Record directly with these characteristics in real-time or edit the material afterwards; either way, you're in complete control. Another new feature is the possibility to load AFX effects as a plugin in your DAW (ConnectAFX) instead of as inserts. This functionality was requested by many Antelope users, and the brand took it seriously enough to integrate it into this device. To sum up, with excellent conversion and countless connection options at your fingertips, the Discrete 8 is sure to take centre-stage in your studio!

Tips or comments about this product

Please note: the Discrete 8 does not allow you to load more than two AFX instances in your DAW at the same time. If you wish to be able to load more, there are two options available: an upgrade or a bundle that includes the Edge modeller microphone. This offers access to all 16 AFX effects instances.

Zoek je professionele kwaliteit. De wereld bekende clocking en fantastische converters en pre amps! Voor deze prijs krijg je niets beters met zoveel mogelijkheden. In mijn ogen de audio interface voor elke kleine tot middelgrote recording/productie studio!

Fantastische (momenteel ongeëvenaarde) prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding. De beste AD/DA conversie in deze prijsklasse van interfaces, zeer fijne en gedetailleerde microfoon preamps met iets meer levendigheid dan de meeste ingebouwde geluidskaart preamps, 65dB zeer stille gain. Uitgebreide mogelijkheden bv. line inputs tot -6dB dempen als je outboard hard wil aansturen zonder clipping op de inputs van de interface, DI instrument opnames reampen via de hoogimpedantie reamp outputs (die ook ingesteld kunnen worden als een extra paar line outputs), onafhankelijke monitor mixes maken voor de twee hoofdtelefoonuitgangen en de monitor outputs enz... Ingebouwde AFX plugins die op de interface draaien zijn van hoge kwaliteit en kunnen mee opgenomen worden of achteraf in de mix gebruikt worden. Ik ben algemeen geen fan van gitaar amp simulatie maar de ingebouwde amps zijn zeer bruikbaar en alvast voor cleane sounds beter dan de populaire Guitar Rig dingen en de meeste modelling pedalboards. USB drivers zijn zeer stabiel en geven lage latency op mijn Windows 10 pc. Het overheersende gevoel is dat je meer krijgt dan waarvoor je betaalt, in vergelijking met de concurrentie.
