The Apogee JAM 96k guitar audio interface for iPad, iPhone and Mac certainly fits the zeitgeist. It enables you to capture the sound characteristics of your electric guitar in minute detail, with great warmth and that coveted tube amp tone (emulation). Mobile musicians in particular will love working with the JAM 96k, finding the inspiration they need for their jam, practice and recording sessions.
The JAM 96k: new features
Compared to the original JAM, this 96k edition offers a number of interesting new features. To start off, there's the aforementioned tube amp emulation, which adds a punchy tone to your guitar sound. More importantly, however - the interface's name is a dead giveaway - the JAM 96k allows you to record at a fabulous 24-bit/96kHz resolution. An iOS Lightning cable is included, and for looks that match its outstanding sound, Apogee has given their guitar interface an attractive nickel-plated housing.
Using the JAM 96k
For care-free use, Apogee has made the JAM 96k as user-friendly as possible. Simply connect the guitar audio interface to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac using one of the included cables, and you're ready to perform. There's no need to install any software. Plug your instrument - an electric guitar, an electric bass guitar or an acoustic guitar with a pickup - into the JAM's input, and you can use the interface's gain wheel to adjust the level to your liking. A high-grade A/D converter takes care of the rest. Are you an avid GarageBand and/or Logic Pro user? In that case, you can't do without this practical Apogee accessory. Enjoy the JAM 96k's performance wherever you go!

Daarna ziet de ipad de jam pas en werkt hij prima. Update is even een werkje maar niet echt moeilijk

Even gebeld met helpdesk, die me direct voorstel deed het verkeerd bestelde product terug te sturen en mits meerprijs het correcte aan te kopen.
Alles werd keurig geregeld, de retour, de bijbetaling en de nieuwe levering.
Vandaag mijn bestelling geleverd gekregen, werkt perfect met Garageband en AmpKit. fantastisch geluid, supereenvoudig te installeren. Everybody happy, ik wegens jammen en moeder de vrouw wegens de stilte (headphones!)

Met Garageband is het een kwestie van plug&play, zoals vaker op de Mac/iPad het geval is. Wel wat last gehad van latency op de Mac. Na wat Googlen blijkt dit makkelijk te verhelpen te zijn door in de Audio voorkeuren het input kanaal te switchen van Jam naar Built In Input en weer terug naar Jam. Dat werkt bij mij.
Voor de rest is het handig om bij het gebruiken van de versterkers op de IPad Garageband, het volume ook aan te zetten, anders heb je wel wat opgenomen, maar hoor je niks met terug spelen en monitoren.
Kortom, de Apogee Jam 96k is een compact apparaatje, waar ik denk ik veel plezier van zal hebben.

Het voelt, speelt en reageert als een amp met het grote voordeel dat je op elk uur van de dag aan de slag kan met oefenen en opnemen zonder dat je je buren slapeloze nachten bezorgt of als je kinderen boven liggen te slapen.
Ik sluit de hoofdtelefoonuitgang van m'n iPad aan op gewone pc-luidsprekertjes van Bose en het geluid dat daar al uitkomt is gewoonweg geweldig. Geen ruis en geen storing zoals je wel al een met iRig of iets dergelijks kan hebben.
Persoonlijk vind ik AmpKit beter en uitgebreider dan Garageband, maar de extra's zijn ook duurder. Maar dat is naast de kwestie. Gewoon zelf proberen en zelf beslissen.
Gewoon kopen die handel, als je op zoek bent naar een goede manier om je gitaarspel p te nemen of als je tegen relatief lage volumes wil oefenen
