Audient present the Sono: a hybrid audio interface that's the result of a collaboration with the experts at Two Notes and that's been packed with outstanding modelling possibilities. The Sono is home to a 12AX7 preamp tube which can be found on Input 1 and when called upon, coats your vocals or synth sound with classic warmth. In addition, the Sono naturally makes for an excellent tube guitar preamp that can be used to directly record everything to your DAW in combination with amp modelling, cabinet simulations and power amp modelling. There's a 3-band EQ to polish the tone and, if that's not enough, an ADAT input has been included to raise the number of mic inputs to eight.

Next to the features outlined above, Audient is known to build premium console quality preamps and you can find both their experience and technology inside the Sono. Even if you only have it set up as an audio interface, your recordings are immaculate thanks to pure conversion and preamps. With a dynamic range of 114 dB, it feels like you're using a vintage console with the natural saturation of the 12AX7 tube. No matter if you're in the studio or on location, this hybrid audio interface has enough flexibility to guide you through any task at hand and records using a super-clean D.I. signal, so it's even possible to re-amp your favourite tube amp at a later time for quick on-the-spot recordings with professional guitar sounds.

De Audient Sono is een hoogwaardige audio interface met veel bruikbare toevoegingen. Toen hij net uit was vond ik hem veel te duur. Gelukkig kwam Bax met een aanbieding van rond de EUR 235. Bingo! Dit is een bedrag wat je al snel kwijt bent voor een kwaliteits interface.
Alleen een apparaat om te re-ampn kost al gauw rond de EUR 200. Dan heb ik het nog niet eens over de zeer goede buizen voorversterker ala Fender die op hoog voltage werkt(~200V)
Ook kun je je microfoon signaal opwarmen door hem door de buizen preamp te voeren.
Persoonlijk vind ik dit een serieuze optie, die bijdraagt aan de kwaliteit van de opname.
Daarnaast geeft de Sono je de mogelijkheid om vanuit de Two Notes Torpedo software, drie Two Notes Cab-IRs presets op te slaan in de speakersimulatie. Dit ontlast je computer enorm wat latency alleen maar ten goede komt.
Belangrijkste eigenschappen en plus punten

- Mogelijkheid om je signaal te re-ampn
- Mogelijkheid om je microfoon signaal op te warmen door het buis circuit
- Twee mic/line ingangen (evt met phantom power)
- Mogelijkheid om 10 inputs op te nemen door 8 mic inputs toe te voegen mbv een ADAT light-pipe.
- Class Compliant device. Ik sluit hem aan op mijn Android telefoon en kon gelijk opnemen. Hoe geweldig is dat!
- Ook los te gebruiken als voorversterker en cab simulatie, ideaal voor een gig zonder je amp
- Te gebruiken met je vertrouwde pedalen
