General
With such a bright red front panel, it's no wonder Behringer named this audio interface Firepower! The FCA610 certainly has an impressive exterior, and we think you'll be even more impressed with what you find under the hood. To start with, the FCA610 has sufficient inputs and outputs for the easy connection of signal sources, making the device optimally suited for smaller studios. Another welcome addition is the double headphone output with separate volume control, which is great if the vocalist or artist in question wants to monitor him or herself.
USB and FireWire audio interface
The FCA610 is unique in that it is equipped with both USB and FireWire, which is perhaps the real reason behind the interface's name. This makes it possible to connect the interface to any PC or Mac and maintain a high editing speed. Furthermore, the audio interface has a 24-bit, 96kHz audio processor that maintains a high-quality signal. The interface is also equipped with a number of different indicators that keep you updated on the system's status, which you can read on the interface itself.
Inputs and outputs of the FCA610
Two inputs are available on the front of the interface, and they can be used for line, instrument or microphone signals. The inputs are also equipped with phantom power, low-cut and Hi-Z. It doesn't stop there though, because there are two more inputs on the back, which are suited for line signals. Plenty of outputs are available as well, and you can use all eight of them in different configurations. It's enough to make the seasoned producer happy, as they can connect two monitor sets for A/B alike, or can create a 7.1 setup with the right software. Additional inputs and outputs are available in the form of S/PDIF, optical and MIDI connections.
