This is the Focusrite Clarett 8Pre USB audio interface, the follow-up to its Thunderbolt series Clarett brother, which now features USB-C connectivity and support all Windows and Mac systems (USB 2.0+). Features of the Focusrite Clarett 8Pre
With eight XLR/jack inputs, ten line-outputs, S/PDIF I/O, MIDI I/O, ADAT I/O and Wordclock out, it's easy to see why the 8Pre is capable of handling just about any studio project it encounters. An interesting feature is the Air-enabled preamp, of which there are eight, so you can recreate that renowned ISA preamp sound, and give your audio a boost in the high frequencies of up to 4 dB. Ik weet niet of ik een Clarett had met een defect, een vriend van mij heeft een 18i20 en daar doen mijn microfoons het al met de gain vanaf 3 of 4. Bax heeft mij het geld netjes geretourneerd. Beetje balen dat als na het onderzoek blijkt dat mijn Clarett inderdaad een defect heeft, de kaart inmiddels 128 Euro in prijs is gestegen in slechts enkele weken.

Het was pas later als ik deze verkocht had en een andere, kleinere audio interface gebruikte, dat ik soms kleine ongemakken begon te ervaren bij het opnemen. Vaak moet ik dan terugdenken aan de goede oude tijd met de Clarett 8Pre, waarbij alles altijd vlekkeloos verliep.

Now, they are unveiling the Clarett USB, which is essentially the same concept but suitable for Mac and PC with a minimum of one USB2.0 port. You can choose between three models, the Clarett 2Pre USB, the Clarett 4Pre USB and the Clarett 8Pre USB.
