Mackie have surprised the world with their Mackie Onyx Producer 2x2 USB audio interface! Its excellent converters, good signal quality and handy connection options make it an excellent addition to the (mobile) studio. This device has two line inputs and two mic inputs with two preamps. It also has a MIDI input and output, which is great if you want to use an older synths that doesn't have a USB interface.

In terms of quality, you're in great shape with a 24-bit, 192 kHz signal path. The device is built like a tank, according to Mackie themselves, which means it's road-proof and therefore ideal for mobile producers. Net als alle andere interfaces van deze prijscategorie heeft het niet zoveel zin om de beste uit te zoeken... het zijn namelijk instap modellen en je zult gauw overstappen naar een upgrade wil je hierin verder verdiepen.
Dat gezegd te hebben... Als je voor deze mackie gaat dan zal hij je niet teleurstellen. Hij doet wat ie moet doen in een duidelijke en overzichtelijke methode en heeft een aantal duidelijke pluspunten. Hij heeft een hele lage noicefloor dus geen ruis en kan best nog veel boosten aan gain. Verder als je een goeie DAW gebruikt (of degene die je erbij krijgt, zoals momenteel waveform 8) kun je hele lage latency instellingen bereiken. Dat is zeer prettig voor wanneer je je computer als Gitaar amp simulator/modulator wilt gebruiken.
Let wel op dat de potmeters van de gainknoppen logaritmisch zijn en niet lineair. Ik weet niet wat hier de voor of nadelen van zijn, behalve dat het moeilijk in te stellen is bij hele hoge gain boost.
