Universal Audio Apollo 8 DUO audio interface with DSP processor

General

All of Universal Audio's Apollo interfaces are top-notch devices, and the Apollo 8 DUO is certainly no exception. Not only does it boast four microphone preamps, four line inputs and the renowned UAD DSP processors, its AD and DA conversion structure has been completely redesigned too, resulting in extremely detailed, clear and open sound. Considerable changes in dynamics don't pose any problems. As the Apollo 8 DUO interface is equipped with a Thunderbolt 2 connector, it provides you with a future-proof setup that delivers high-quality sound.

Universal Audio Apollo 8 DUO: preamps, connectors and routing

For the Apollo series, a special preamplifier hes been developed that emulates the sound of a classic Unison preamp like the UA 610. Its warm and familiar tone really brings out the tube characteristics. The interface's microphone inputs run via XLR/jack combo connectors, which means you can also use them to plug in a standard line signal. On the front, you'll find two Hi-Z inputs for recording guitars and/or bass guitars. This Apollo's internal routing is determined by means of a virtual console application that bypasses the CPU of your computer.

UAD processing

The Universal Audio company has a rich history that includes, among other things, the basic design of the modern-day mixer. The manufacturer also produces various dynamic processors. To optimise their devices' performance, Universal Audio came up with the UAD system, which emulates both classic and modern effects in exceptionally high quality. The UAD devices themselves supply the necessary processing power. Naturally, the Apollo 8 DUO also boasts this UAD functionality, which means you can use plugins without burdening your computer's CPU. To get you started on the right track, the interface comes with the Realtime Analogue Classics Plus Bundle.
