Featuring SuperAnalogue PureDrive microphone preamp technology, the Solid State Logic PureDrive OCTO harks back to the glory days of the ORIGIN console from the '80s. Add state-of-the-art conversion, eight channels and a compact design that takes up just 2U of rack space, and what you get is a premium mic preamp that doubles as an audio interface and is able to deliver the punch, clarity and harmonic richness of a high-end vintage console.

Analogue Obsession

In addition, the PureDrive OCTO not only borrows the 'Pure' and Drive' modes from the ORIGIN console but piles on the new 'Asymmetric Drive' mode, giving you three distinct sonic flavours. On top of that, you're hooked up with a built-in USB audio interface, AES/EBU and ADAT ports for serious expansion potential, phantom-powered mic inputs, a polarity switch, and a high-pass filter and impedance adjustment control per channel.

Advanced Connection Options

Besides four analogue mic inputs and four Hi-Z instrument inputs, SSL has equipped the PureDrive OCTO with digital audio ports, making it perfectly integrable into project studios without compromising on audio quality. The D-sub connection comes with line-level inputs that double as sends and returns for effects, where the insert returns have a maximum +24dBu line level to ensure seamless integration with other professional gear. Meanwhile, the built-in 8-channel audio interface supports up to 32-bit/192kHz audio, while the four pairs of AES/EBU and ADAT outputs can be used to send out another eight channels at 24-bit/48 kHz or four channels at 24-bit/192 kHz via SMUX.
