The Elektron Syntakt is a spin on the popular Digitakt, which has been around for a few years now. While their designs are fairly similar in terms of looks and controls, the Syntakt is actually a 12-track groovebox loaded with not just drums but synths, filters, and effects like delay, reverb and analogue overdrive. In total, you're offered eight digital tracks which give you the pick of six drum machines and four tonal synths; three analogue drum tracks; and an analogue cymbal track.

So, what can you do with the Syntakt? Well, the strength of this synth-based drum machine lies in its ability to create fresh loops and grooves. And we don't mean classic '80s-style drum loops - we're talking modern sounds and styles that would normally require a massive stack of synths, effects and plug-ins to shape. De syntakt zelf is natuurlijk geweldig, net als de digitakt en de digitone.
Het fijne van de syntakt vind ik de verschillende 'machines' waarmee je drum en synth-sounds kan maken. Dus niet zoeken naar een goeie sample, maar gewoon je eigen geluid maken. Het is makkelijker dan de FM van de digitone en het klinkt allemaal erg goed.
De FX track geeft je (o.a.) de mogelijkheid om met LFO's reverb en delay parameters te moduleren. Omdat deze in de basis wel erg simpel klinken vind ik dat een erg fijne toevoeging.

Ik wil meer geluid hebben als industrial en noise muziek. De Combi tussen de digitakt midi kanalen en de syntakt is ideaal. Ik heb het geluid van de digitakt laten lopen over de syntakt ingang. Daardoor krijg ik de mogelijkheid om de digitakt geluiden ook door de FX te laten lopen. De midi kanalen van de digitakt gebruik ik minder.
Ik ben nog aan het experimenteren. Nu nog nummers maken. :-)
