General
The AlphaTheta Toraiz ChordCat is a groovebox we can agree with. Literally even, because this is a device that bears the name ChordCat for a reason: it offers you chords. You start with a chord, the ChordCat then gives you great tips on which chord fits it. More than 100,000 chord suggestions are up for grabs. Of course, there is also plenty to do in terms of sound, with an MPC-style grid as well as an XY-pad that allows you to control various sound parameters. It really is a portable groovebox that lets you make your own tunes, even on batteries in the middle of nowhere. For this amount of money, it is a very fascinating device! Be sure to check out the videos, they tell the whole story!
Agreeing with the chords: the target audience
Is this whole idea something? Is it fun? You can imagine that a producer/composer would rather make up those chords themselves and definitely not need suggestions. However, the ChordCat is aimed at a slightly different target group. There are plenty of DJs who want to produce something with chords themselves, but lack that bit of music theory, or otherwise can't just make up a convincing chord sequence. So a kind of tech-savvy, self-taught origin, enough skills present to operate equipment. And there are! Make no mistake about the amount of DJs and producers who could very well use a ChordCat, as a supplement.
