To sum up the Sonicware LIVEN Bass & Beats groovebox and synthesizer: it's small, it's rough and it's fat. Basically, this tight desktop module keeps things simple but makes things sound big, so it's definitely been built for the stage-ready beat generation. Use the synthesizer to mould and shape your bass sound before building beats using the sample player - whether you're messing with drums or other sounds. In the synth section, you get two oscillators; a sub-oscillator; noise controls; the pick of thirty-two wavetables (the whole synth is digital); and a stack of effects with modulation options. Over in the sample section you're set up with classic sounds as well as drums and a neat stutter effect.

While simple, this module is far from conventional. In fact, it steers closer to the layout of a groovebox. That's not to say that it's only able to pump out Blade-Runner-style sounds, since the LIVEN is built for shaping and stacking extreme, next-gen sound.
