The Korg Electribe Sampler 2 Red is a music production station that's compact yet expansive. It's a desktop module that's ideal for live performances, recording and building new material on the road (when you fill it with six AA batteries). This portable work station enables you to create entire tracks from scratch!
Features of the Korg Electribe 2 Sampler Red
Besides a virtual analogue engine, the true strength of the Electribe 2 lies in its sampling capabilities which is really what this teeny tiny bit of kit it such a timeless product. It goes without saying that you can manipulate samples with the usual synthesis parameters like looping, envelopes, filters, and so on. On top of that, you can add a further layer of intrigue and professionalism by applying effects. The Electribes (from the series released back in 1999) are already pretty desirable in themselves and this improved red Electribe Sampler 2 reissue, is bound to be converting any non-beleivers in no time!
What's New?
Korg has fitted this Electribe 2 Blue with a new operating system (v2) that features all kinds of new functions. For starters, you can now chain patterns, which was a highly-requested function by Korg users for live performances. There are about 400 further bonus patterns available via Korg.com, just in case you run out and what's more, these patterns, as well as the update to the new v2 operating system, are compatible with the entire line of Electribes from way-back-then and now!

I have had the EMX-1,the ESX-1 and this one the ESX-2.Although the other two are better looking the ESX-2 is more useful and you can play the samples chromatically like a keyboard on all the 16 tracks.You can have voice drop outs(voice stealing)if there is too much going on mostly with long releases or too many fx delays.Get the samples right first in a computer and add the fx there thus taking the burden off the engine.You can still have a problem with the voice stealing though but the fx will be okay.Learn to live with it's imperfections.They make a great sample drum machine as well.If you want to preview a sample just enter trigger mode by pressing trigger and turn the sample dial and you can preview them,if you trigger a sample and it's long and you want to stop it just turn down the decay/release knob then when it's stopped turn it back up again.You can resample it's output, perhaps resample all the rhythm tracks in mono or stereo then you can adjust the decay or sample start to get it in time and use it on just one track if mono or two tracks if stereo then you can fx that track.There is a lot on offer for the price in real terms and Korg have a lot of experience with grooveboxes now,plus it has flashing lights!!!Model Samples is cheaper but is only a sample player,no record or resampling and only 6 tracks and only two effects,that is not to say it is an inferior machine though,just different.The Korg has loads of effects both master and insert.Look on the net for video reviews and download the user manual and the parameter guide from Korg uk so you can see for yourself what it can do.

Prima levering, netjes verpakt. De Electribe sampler is een enorm veelzijdig apparaat, ik sta nog aan het begin van de ontdekking wat er allemaal mee kan! Na het bekijken van diverse You Tube tutorials ben ik ermee aan de slag gegaan en heb de eerste self- made deuntjes al gemaakt, die ik als achtergrond gebruik bij het spelen op mijn synthesizers of piano. Blij met deze alleskunner! Het smaakt in ieder geval naar meer!

Het bezorgen ging weer goed na controle van de bezorger. Jammer genoeg ben ik op de hoogte dat mijn sony mp3 speler ook gehacked kan worden met lage rate is een sample dus wel binnen te halen door vreemden. Dus wel geluk dat deze Korg te koop is en ik toch niet de Akai met wifi etc. kon kopen. Zo weet ik dus waarom er nog steeds oude studio gewoontes zijn en zonder pc ook moet denken aan de noten en scene tijd samenstellen om een song te maken. De wav functie naar ableton zal ik dus niet 1,2 3 gebruiken. Kon de sample's die voor de Volta 2 sampler bedoelt zijn gebruiken. Die klinken trouwens erg goed. Misschien de helft van wat de Akai kan en toch zo 65 procent goedkoper. Als je geld hebt koop je er dan twee van vraag ik me af?

Jaren en jaren geleden vond ik het heerlijk om muziek te maken op de PC met de zogenaamde MOD trackers. Door omstandigheden zijn veel hobbies van mij niet meer mogelijk, maar muziek maken zou zo maar eens een nieuw leven ingeblazen kunnen worden bedacht ik me... Was er maar zoiets als een MOD editor in hardware...
OH! DAT IS ER!!!
En daarmee doe ik de Korg Electribe Sampler echt te kort. Wat een overweldigend fijn en mooi apparaat. Ik viel bijna van mijn stoel toen ik hem aanzette en begon te luisteren naar de voorbeeld patterns. Wat een geluid, wat een mogelijkheden!
Ik ben er nu een tijdje mee bezig en ik kan niet anders zeggen dat ik er dolblij mee ben. De basis is vrij eenvoudig te leren en vanaf nu is het steeds verder gaan en steeds meer dingen uit gaan proberen. Heerlijk om samples op te nemen of om eigen samples toe te voegen.
Bekijk de vele filmpjes op YouTube om echt een indruk te krijgen van de mogelijkheden van dit muziek doosje, ik ben echt dol gelukkig met mijn terug gekeerde hobby op een niveau waarvan ik niet wist dat dat zo toegankelijk was.

Mooi stevig apparaat en de ombouw schijnt zelfs van metaal te zijn, enfin het staat stevig op de tafel.
Verder is er een handleiding en parameter document bijgeleverd waarin alle instelbare parameters beschreven staan (global en "part" specifiek), dit geeft een goed beeld van wat er ingesteld kan worden en wat niet. Tevens staat er in het display ook wat de "original" instelling is. Menustructuur is ism het parameter document overzichtelijk.
Verder zijn het fijne potmeters (in tegenstelling tot de Volca serie), triggerpads voelen goed aan maar de velocity staat standaard niet op aanraakgevoeligheid (even in menu goedzetten). Daarnaast zitten er 500 samples op en kan er eenvoudig samples toegevoegd worden via line in of SD card, tevens heeft de KORG ook diverse poorten waaronder MIDI in & out (middels 3.5mm jack verloop)
Een pattern kan ook naar Ableton Live format weggeschreven worden. Hoe dit precies uitpakt moet ik nog testen.
