General
The Roland AIRA Series has just expanded with the addition of the P-6. A kind of tighter take on the SP-404, this portable sampler has a granular engine under the hood.
The Roland AIRA Compact P-6
The Roland AIRA P-6 has definitely been built for working on the fly, especially since, in terms of both the size and layout, it's not much different from your average smartphone. The underlying sampling engine features granular options, so you can grind your samples right down into smaller crumbs or granules and trigger them in an entirely different context from the original snippet, opening up a big can of sound-design potential - even despite the dimensions. This means that, while the on-board memory isn't exactly gigantic, it gives users plenty of space to get creative.
Control
It doesn't take too much time to get to know all of the ins and outs of the control panel, which includes effects so you can dip everything in a little secret sauce. An X0X sequencer is another a welcome feature, so you can create looping melodies and rhythms on location, on the spot - even on stage. With this unit, you can simply record and sample everything and anything, chop it up and go nuts.

Snel en goed geleverd. De p6 is precies wat ik verwachtte, maar hou wel in de gaten dat er een leerproces aan zit. Niet erg, maar niet vanzelf. Eenmaal wat geleerd is het echt een ongelooflijk goede sampler voor zijn geld. Je kunt er veel mee. Ik ben erg blij met de aankoop

Veel te veel dubbelfuncties of zelfs driedubbel.
Te weinig knoppen die direct doen wat je wilt. Altijd een combi.
En de batterij gaat maar 3 uur mee. Opladen 2 uur.

De Roland P6 is een compacte sampler die je gemakkelijk in je tas kunt meenemen, ideaal voor het maken van muziek onderweg of in de buitenlucht op een zonnige dag. De ingebouwde batterij gaat ongeveer 3 uur mee en is eenvoudig op te laden via USB-C.
De stepsequencer is zeer gebruiksvriendelijk, waarbij je per bank 6 samples kunt plaatsen, en er zijn in totaal 8 banken beschikbaar. Een handige feature is dat je meerdere samples op één pad kunt opnemen om ruimte te besparen voor andere samples.
De belangrijkste reden voor mij om de P6 aan te schaffen, was echter de granular synthesizer. Je kunt elke sample omzetten naar een granular synth, en deze bespelen via de toetsen van de stepsequencer of door een MIDI-keyboard aan te sluiten.
Ik heb de P6 om 22:57 besteld en binnen 5 minuten was hij al aangemeld voor verzending. Binnen 24 uur had ik hem in huis! Geweldige service en een fantastisch apparaat voor elke muzikant!
