Roland AIRA Compact S-1 Tweak Synth

Roland have added the S-1 Tweak Synth to the ever-growing AIRA Compact Series, serving up another space-saving synth that offers authentic Roland-grade sound. Unlike the T-8 and J-6, the S-1 isn't a recreation of any existing synthesizer, but is powered by the ACB engine which is able to simulate the performance of various Roland-made chips and motherboards in great detail.

A Few Features of the Roland AIRA Compact S-1

The S-1 can be described as a 4-voice subtractive synthesizer equipped with multiple oscillators per voice. That said, it takes things beyond good-old sawtooth and square waves, allowing you to 'draw up' your own oscillator, which technically results in infinite sound-shaping potential. Add that to the built-in D-Motion system - a Roland-designed motion sensor that can turn movement into controller data - and you've got a great core for fresh virtual-analogue sounds.

Needless to say, The AIRA Compact S-1 Tweak Synth has been loaded with various effects, including chorus, delay and reverb and, while the controls look fairly straightforward, there's more to this piece of synthesis kit than meets the eye. In fact, it features a serious steptime sequencer and can be sync'd with other AIRA Compact units as well as Eurorack systems, completing a compact yet versatile synth that's definitely worth the investment if you're already running more AIRA Compact gear.
