General

The tremolo bridges of Fender/Squier Jazzmaster and Jaguar models are loved for their smooth and subtle vibrato effects, but also infamous for their rattling saddles — a problem that can get to the point where the noise is even picked up by the pickups. Thankfully, the Allparts Buzz Stop can solve that problem once and for all. This specially designed piece of chrome-plated metal doesn't look out of place and won't get in the way of your left hand.

How It Works

The saddles of a vintage-style Jaguar/Jazzmaster bridge are fairly delicate. This, in combination with the lower-than-standard string tension of a tremolo unit, gives the saddles and screws too much room to wobble, which they'll eventually start doing, resulting in a rattling sound. The Buzz Stop simply increases the string tension by increasing the angle at which the strings run from the tailpiece to the bridge, reducing the potential wiggle room.

Op het eerste gezicht lijkt deze buzz stop behoorlijk aan de prijs. Toch is het de aanschaf, in mijn ogen, meer dan waard. De welbekende 'brugproblemen' van mijn Fender Jaguar zijn met deze buzz stop en een dikker setje snaren als sneeuw voor de zon verdwenenen. Daarnaast is de klank van de gitaar vrijwel hetzelfde als voorheen. Over het geheel genomen een prima oplossing voor een betaalbare prijs.

Het zwakke design van de fender jaguar brug, maakte dat ik ondanks gebruik van 011 snaren last had van het verschuiven van de snaren op de brugzadels. Erg irritant omdat je continue met een ontstemde gitaar zit. De buzz stop van allparts heeft dit probleem verholpen. De snaren worden nu stevig in de groefjes van de zadels gedrukt waardoor ze niet meer verschuiven. Het is de resonantie van de gitaar ook iets ten goede gekomen en het ge-buzz is bijna helemaal weg. Erg fijn allemaal. Het is echter wel een behoorlijk prijzig stukje metaal en voor de prijs vind ik het chroomwerk niet heel mooi gedaan. Vandaar 4 sterren ipv 5. Functioneel is het prima en is het nog altijd een stuk voordeliger dan een andere brug op je jaguar zetten.
