General
The decadent Ciokolate was first released back in 2011 to celebrate the 20th birthday of the pedalboard-powering giants. In principle, the celebratory Ciokolate is a hybrid of the Cioks DC-10 and AC-10 but with some necessary adjustments. No less than thirteen DC outputs and three AC outputs are provided as well as an extensive pack of cables that can adapt and power even the most exotic boutique pedal on your board. While this is not exactly the most budget-friendly power supply out there, the sheer luxury and convenience on offer is more than worth it.
Connections
The Ciokolate is fitted with two magnetically shielded toroidal transformers which keeps the guitar signal clean of any electrostatic noise and, since this is a Cioks creation, any digital pedals with high power consumption can enjoy problem free connection. Pedals that need 18, 24, or even 40 Volts are accommodated by this gracious host while alternating current pedals are offered their own AC section. Even a DC output is fitted with a variable voltage that can be made to simulate the sometimes sweet sound of a dying battery in any connected analogue stompbox.
A Valuable Investment
While the price makes it seem indulgent, the options on offer are not to be sniffed at, and the level of short circuit and overload protection it offers your most precious, rare or expensive pedals makes it a more than worthy investment. Low consumption analogue pedals; demanding digital pedals; picky, alternating current pedals, and pedals with awkward power needs are all taken care of by the benevolent Ciokolate.

Super stabiele ruisvrije voeding, het fundament van een goede sound.
Reeds 2 maal aangekocht voor gebruik in 2 pedalboards met midiswitching en wireless na verschilllende andere (grote) merken uitgeprobeerd te hebben.
Best klein voor een voeding met zoveel mogelijkheden.
Kost wel wat, maar is in de long run de beste initiële investering die je kan doen.

Zoals de meesten, denk ik, begon ook ik met enkele pedalen en een Daisy Chain. Aanvankelijk werkt dat prima, maar als er later toch weer wat pedalen bijkomen (bijv. ter verfijning of uitbreiding van je geluidsbeeld), wordt ook het ruisorkest op de achtergrond steeds luider. Aanschaf van een noise gate (i.c. de MXR Smart Gate) loste het probleem maar ten dele op, en haalde daarnaast ook de nodige ruimtelijkheid in mijn reverb-geluid weg. Na deskundig advies raakte ik uiteindelijk ervan overtuigd dat investeren in een goede stroomvoorziening de oplossing is. Omdat ik voor eens en altijd van alle gedoe af wilde zijn, heb ik gekozen voor de tamelijk dure Cioks Ciokolate.
De Ciokolate is een professionele stroomvoorziening, met tal van opties en mogelijkheden en die onvoorwaardelijk doet wat ervan mag worden verwachten. Heb er nu 12 pedalen (tja, je mot wat ..;-)) op aangesloten, en er is werkelijk zero ruis!! Hierdoor is ook het fijntjes afstellen van de pedalen beter mogelijk, want veel details van mijn geluid leken eerder te zijn opgegaan in die vervelende, maar onvermijdelijk geachte ruis. De Cioks Ciokolate maakt duidelijk dat die ruis effectief te verhelpen valt.
Toegegeven, 't ding kost wat, maar ook hier geldt: dan heb je ook weer wat! Ik heb geen ervaring met kleine en goedkopere stroomvoorzieningen, maar zoek je een gedegen oplossing voor je ruisprobleem bij een pedalboard met aardig wat pedalen, dan is de Cioks Ciokolate beslist geen miskoop!
