Guitar knobs like these in the Fender Pure Vintage '58 Telecaster Knurled Knob Set were introduced on the Fender Telecaster in 1958. You can use them to replace the knobs on your American Vintage Tele if needed, but they also fit most modern models. You mount these knobs on a potentiometer with smooth shaft (solid shaft), the screws to secure them are included.
