General

It is not difficult to design a single-coil element that sounds clean and bright. It gets trickier when the tones above the twelfth fret should not sound too shrill. With the DP175SBK, DiMarzio has managed to combine these two characteristics in the same pickup. The pickup's coil is tuned to just the right frequency. This makes the True Velvet sound clear and sparkling, but not shrill and thin.
