General

The fully loaded Fender Custom Shop Texas Special SSS Pre-Wired Pickguard offers all dedicated Strat players access to classic Strat sound with a little more dust, grit, and attitude. Mounting this all-in-one upgrade is easy: simply solder on your output jack, make sure it's properly connected to the grounding wire, then screw on your new pickguard. Each of the three single-coils have an enamel coated coil and a set of staggered magnet poles to retain a balanced output across all six strings, and since the mid-mounted pickup is reverse-wound, your Strat won't be bothered by any unwanted noise when switching through pickup configurations. This fully Texan-flavoured setup is built for channelling the unflinching and fierce tone of players like Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughan themselves, using your very own axe.

Wrote the following about Fender Pre-Wired Strat PG Custom Shop Texas Special SSS Parchment

Ik had een jaar of 5 geleden al eens andere elementen in m'n Strat gezet en had toen al gemerkt hoe makkelijk je zelf je Strat kunt aanpassen. In alle eerlijkheid zijn de elemennten het enige echt significante wat de toon van een gitaar bepaalt. Omdat ik een paar andere gitaren heb met humbuckers en actieve elementen, wilde ik met m'n Strat juist terug naar het originele Fender single coil geluid. En wie zou daar beter toe in staat kunnen zijn dan Fender's custom shop? Maar los daarvan: ik wil met m'n Strat graag Funk, Disco en Jazz spelen. Een professionele gitarist beval me de Texas Specials daarvoor aan. Hij heeft helemaal gelijk. Deze elementen hebben een grote mate van dynamiek, klinken heel gedefinieerd en geven uitermate heldere hoge tonen. En een prima output voor single coils! De 'loaded' pickguard is kwalitatief ook zeer netjes opgebouwd, met goede pots en switch en net soldeerwerk voor de bedrading. Even output en aarding solderen, pickguard er in schroeven en klaar. Het enige wat even gepruts oplevert, is de plastic folie op de pickguard. Het kost wat gepiel en geduld om dat bij de volume- en toonknoppen weg te halen, maar dat is logisch. Al met al zeer tevreden met deze upgrade voor m'n Strat, waarvan ik verwacht nog jaren plezier te zullen hebben.
