General

Way back during the onset of electric guitars in the '50s, Gibson released a series of humbuckers that came with "Patent Applied For" stickers stuck to the underside. A little later, when Gibson acquired patent rights, the original PAF pickups became part of the Patent Number series, and because they accidentally ended up with more winding than intended, a unique Gibson sound was born. This Gibson 57 Classic Humbuckers is a faithful replica of the original and comes with nickel-plated magnet poles, nickel slugs, maple spacers, '50s-style two-wire wiring and an Alnico II magnet with just enough magnetic pull for truly vintage, mid-rich tone.
