If you want to replace your passive guitar pickups with active ones, you should bear in mind that you will also have to replace the potentiometers. Contrary to what you might expect, the magnets in active pickups are extremely weak compared to those in passive pickups. Active elements therefore get their high output from the preamp that gives the signal a huge boost. However, the signal is first routed through the volume control. In other words, the volume control receives a very low signal proportionally. Were you to use a standard potentiometer (with a 250K or 500K resistor), the potentiometer would only act as an on/off switch. For active elements, you therefore need potentiometers with a 25K resistor, such as this Allparts 25k Mini pot.

Tips or comments about this product

This type of shaft (split shaft with 18 teeth in total) is only suitable for metric knobs and is mostly used for guitars from Japan, China, Korea and Indonesia.
