General
The ENGL E530 Tube Preamp is a versatile 19-inch tube preamp for guitar. It produces astonishing professional modern rock valve sounds and yet it is only one rack unit high. Its two basic channels (Clean and Lead) each have their own gain and EQ sections and volume control that allow you to accurately create and fine-tune your sound. The Gain Lo/Hi switch on the E530 changes the Clean channel to a fat and dynamic Crunch. In this mode, the Lead channel produces everything from Heavy Crunch to Ultra Gain.
ENGL E530 Tube Preamp: tonal range and switches
The Clean/Crunch channel of the ENGL E530 features a Bright switch that allows you to bring out the high frequencies for extra sparkle and bite. Additionally, the Lead channels feature an expansive voicing section with separate Lo Mid and Hi Mid controls There's also a contour function to give the mids an added boost that'll help you cut through the mix with your solos even better. These versatile options, the two channels and Gain Lo/Hi function can be remotely controlled via the two inputs for the optional ENGL Z-4 foot switches or an ENGL Z-11 MIDI Switcher combined with a MIDI foot switch (Z-9, Z-12 or Z-15).
Practical options and built-in power amp
The practical Preamp Defeat function allows you to bypass the preamp so you can put a second preamp in the series to expand your options. The controllable stereo line output and frequency-compensated stereo line output offer a wide range of additional options. For instance, they allow you to chain the amplified signal to a mixer or a recording device, while controlling a stereo power amp such as the E840/50. Lastly, the ENGL E350 Tube Preamp boasts a 2x 1.5W power amp that you can use with stereo headphones or HiFi speaker. The switch on the back allows you to use the power amp for a guitar speaker cabinet.
Tips or comments about this product- Please note: always use 6.35mm mono jacks to prevent the second channel of the power amp to short circuit.
- see the ENGL E840/50 Tube Poweramp if you're looking for a matching, full-fledged stereo amplifier.
