The Friedman IR-X preamp pedal supplies two independent channels. Essentially, this is a complete Friedman rig packed away in a neat pedalboard-friendly box. Both channels are driven by two, real high-voltage 12AX7 preamp valves, so no matter the setting, your sound is treated with rich, lush sound as well as the dynamic response you'd only expect from a genuine Friedman amplifier. Thanks to a balanced output complete with DSP IR speaker simulation and power amp simulation, a studio quality signal can be sent directly to the mixing desk, whether you're recording or performing. And, in a world where digital modellers are only getting more complex, the Friedman IR-X Dual Tube Preamp & DI manages to keep things clean, simple and ultimately satisfying. The Friedman IR-X: Pure Friedman Sound

Both channels have also been kitted out with a dedicated footswitch. Activate Channel 1 and you gain everything from sweet, blues-worthy cleans with a British voicing to a powerful Plexi-style crunch. Over on Channel 2, you get a more gain and a more percussive punch, where the clarity of every note remains flawlessly intact. Each channel has even been kitted out with an adjustable boost function, basically meaning that you have four channels at your disposal and, via the three-way Bright switch on Channel 1 and the two-Way Tight switch on Channel 2, the sonic character can be customised with ease. Just to make things clear, the IR-X is no mere emulation of a Friedman preamp - it IS a Friedman preamp - a Friedman preamp that's been designed and built in the USA using the best possible components to guarantee the best possible performance.

Impulse Response Speaker Simulation

Since a good guitar amplifier is nothing without a good speaker cabinet, the IR-X comes pre-loaded with a selection of Dave Friedman's favourite impulse responses. Your IR of choice can be selected per channel via a three-way switch and your own favourite IRs can be easily loaded in using the Friedman IR-X Editor. Via this neat software, you also gain some deep-diving control over your sound, where Thump and Presence controls adjust the power amp simulation of each channel, a Boost Lock function can be activated, a Loop on/off switch can be toggled and everything can be saved to one of 128 MIDI presets. In short, the Friedman IR-X has been set up to serve as an all-in-one rig, a standalone preamp and even an IR loader.
