General

The JHS Pedals Colour Box V2 Preamp / EQ / DI-Box may well be rightfully called an improved version of the original pedal. Due to its long list of features and possibilities, this preamp is more like a studio console shaped like a stompbox and can't only be used with electric and acoustic guitars, but practically all instruments and microphones. You're given full control over your sound via the various switches and controls lined up on the face of the Colour Box V2, including a hi/lo switch for an ultra-clean sound when toggled to lo. There's a -20 dB pad switch on-board to subtly tame high-output microphones, as well as an EQ to cut the entire frequency range to taste. It's time to Colour your tone!

Wrote the following about JHS Pedals Colour Box V2 Preamp / EQ / DI-Box

Ik heb dit pedaal gekocht als multi purpose preamp voor akoestische gitaar en basgitaar. Sound is goed en je kunt er een goeie drive mee krijgen wat erg goed werkt in de mix. De EQ banden zijn wel erg nauw opgezet. Als ik wat meer sublaag wil zo rond de 20/30Hz dan verdwijnt de EQ bump die ik rond de 100Hz had staan. Ik heb hem vergeleken met de Rupert Neve DI. De JHS heeft minder sublaag dan de RNDI. Dit kun je erin draaien maar zoals hierboven beschreven verlies je dan je andere boost. Logisch maar ik mis die subs een beetje. Het is marginaal maar net niet lekker voor bas in ieder geval. Akoestisch heb ik hem niet meer getest omdat ik een multi purpose preamp zoek.
