General

This NitorLACK Translucent Blue nitrocellulose lacquer is a semi-transparent coloured spray lacquer that allows the wood grain to show through beautifully. This makes it particularly suitable for figured or flamed maple tops, such as those found on the Gibson Les Paul. For extra contrast, you can first apply a black dye or filler and sand it back so that the grain in particular remains dark. Build up the colour in thin, even layers until the shade is just right.
