The first thing you'll probably notice about this hi-hat from Meinl is its unique looks. That's because this Classics Custom Dark Heavy 14-inch hi-hat has a dark-coloured coating - and for a reason. Namely, the coating dampens unnecessary overtones, giving you a richer and therefore a more usable sound. The cymbals are made from a B10 bronze alloy and hammered by machine via modern computer techniques. The result is a tight attack and a high/clear timbre.

This is a heavy weighted hi-hat, which sounds a bit heavier and sharper than the regular hats in this series. Because of the sound characteristics of this hi-hat, it is especially suitable for somewhat 'louder' music styles. Think especially of genres such as metal, rock or in some cases pop music. A big feature of these hats is their tight attack; strong, aggressive, with a loud chick. The hi-hats have a relatively high pitch. making them easier to pierce through the mix.
