For any musicians, writers and performers who find the Genos 2 just a bit too pricey, there's the PSR-SX720 and PSR-SX920: two outstanding sonic machines with the same high-grade Yamaha Genos 2 DNA. While the larger Yamaha SX920 Workstation comes with more voices, more rhythms and a bigger speaker system, the Yamaha PSR-SX720 can't be described as 'smaller', since this whopper of a keyboard still brings a mountain of potential and boasts a relatively small price tag.

The sheer quality of this instrument lies in the standard of the sounds and rhythms that come on board - and there's enough of them to keep you busy for years on end. The library amounts to a mind-boggling 1,300 sounds, including Yamaha's own CFX concert grand piano, and all of it is backed up by AWM stereo sampling that supports a wide 128 voice polyphony. Dig into the library and you'll find organs, strings, woodwind, brass, guitars, synths and a stack of unique articulations. And, as you'd expect, everything sounds outstanding.

This is a fully-fledged arranger and workstation, so up to sixteen tracks can be layered to literally build entire pieces of music from the ground up and all within a single unit. Your own styles can also be created from scratch and a built-in sequencer has been supplied for trying out ideas and discovering entirely new ones. Because this model has been designed for performers and entertainers as well as writers, not only a microphone but a guitar can be directly plugged in and, while the control panel has been filled with tactile control elements, the spacious full-colour touchscreen planted in the middle grants quick and intuitive access to every option and every function, completing a streamlined and ultimately powerful music-making and performing partner.
