Samson CL7a Large-Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone

The Samson CL7a is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for use in (home) studios. It's fitted with a 1.1-inch gold-plated diaphragm for a beautifully balanced and transparent sound with supple mids and bright highs. The latter is made possible by a small boost in the 15 kHz range, ensuring the microphone maintains its naturally transparent character when recording vocals. To keep out as much ambient noise and bleed from other instruments as possible, the CL7a uses an ever-efficient cardioid pickup pattern for fully-focussed sound reproduction.

Two-Pole High-Pass Filter and Integrated Shock Mount

Also quite handy is the two-pole/12 dB per octave high-pass/low-cut filter, which filters out any sound below 100 Hz, blocking any unwanted lows from entering the mix. Add to that the enormous 147 dB SPL and this Samson CL7a can also be be set up as an overhead mic for excellent drum or guitar cabinet recordings. There’s an integrated shock mount that protects the diaphragm while isolating vibrations and, if the instruments are a little too loud and the built-in preamp starts to overdrive during the recording process, you can turn to the selectable pad switch to shave 10 dBs off the signal.
