General

It's obvious at first sight: this Johnson JR-990-PN exudes pure blues, with a shiny brass body with polished nickel finish and a dark, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. This mandolin has a single cone resonator, making it sound very bluesy and sharp, without losing the typical playfulness and sharpness of a classical mandolin. So a nice combination, ideal for mandolin players looking for a new sound, but also perfect for any blues guitarist looking to expand his arsenal. This compact instrument has a powerful sound with lots of treble and that typical mandolin "twang". You can only play acoustic (and therefore not plugged into an amplifier), but the volume is high enough to hold its own in an ensemble with, for example, other stringed instruments and percussion.
