General

The Loar LM-110-BRB A-style mandolin comes dressed in a subtle vintage finish that gives it the rich look of a '20s antique. The hand-notched sound board is made from solid spruce and the resonance chamber is completed by a maple back and sides so that, while this instrument might look over a hundred years old, it sounds fresh and authentically bright. Another thankfully modern feature is a fitted truss rod that allows the neck and intonation to be accurately adjusted, makes the instrument itself more resistant to temperature fluctuations and humidity, and prolongs its lifespan.

Wrote the following about The Loar LM-110-BRB A-Style Mandolin (Burst)

My Loar mandolin arrived quickly and safely, thanks to Bax Music. I wanted a budget mandolin for taking to sessions etc. I have now had it for a few weeks and have played it most days and I’m very pleased with it. The Loar has been described as the best budget mandolin on the market and as good as others twice the price. I would agree. However, it needed setting up properly and I changed the strings for a lighter set which I prefer and work well with my Jim Dunlop .73mm plectrum. I was able to do the set up and string change but for others this might be an additional cost.

Ik heb deze mandoline onlangs aangeschaft, ik wilde graag een mandoline als hobby voor naast mijn gitaren. De mandoline bevalt erg goed, uit de doos iets minder maar na de nodige set up is het een fijn instrument.

Uit de doos was vooral de actie erg hoog, hierdoor was ook de intonatie niet goed, dit is gelukkig makkelijk aan te passen door de brug te verlagen met de wieltjes (dit kan met spanning op de snaren dus is erg simpel), verder speelde de mandoline erg goed en heb ik verder geen problemen ervaren.

Ik raad deze mandoline aan, aan iedereen die een mandoline zoekt als hobby of die beginned mandoline speler is.
