SE Electronics are perhaps best known for their top-quality microphones. In 2006, they invented the Reflexion Filter, a device which has remained the indisputable industry standard ever since. Now, 10 years on, they are commemorating this achievement with the 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Reflexion Filter Pro. Compared to the original, this special model has been given a few upgrades. It has a chic red finish thanks to a special layer of red acoustic fabric behind the perforated metal rear panel and the hardware has been given a black finish for a distinctive, upscale look. The mounting hardware has been completely redesigned, offering increased stability for better overall performance and improved durability.
Construction
SE's patented multi-layer technology consists of nine carefully selected layers that absorb sound reflections that would otherwise taint your recordings. All of the layers combine to ensure that reflections throughout the entire audio frequency spectrum are absorbed so that the Reflexion Filter Pro won’t colour your recording. The result is that recording in any room can sound like it was done in a professional recording studio. As already mentioned, the mounting hardware has been completely redesigned, making it easier than ever to mount the Reflexion Filter on a microphone stand or on drum hardware. It can be adjusted horizontally and vertically, or tilted to any angle.

I've used it on countless occasions, either in professional vocal boothes / live rooms / or in less than ideal rooms for example recording at home etc.
It's great if you really want to get that intimate close sound and eliminate as much of the room reflections as possible. The Reflexion Filter positioned behind the mic reduces the voice sound source from entering the room, and rejects any incoming reflections from the room into the mic. With the actual body / head of the person the other side of the mic having the same affect that side, you're effectively isolating the mic in the ideal location to get optimum performance.
The other advantage is it expands your choice of mic. Especially when using a highly detailed and sensitive large diaphragm condenser mic, the Reflexion Filter allows the mic to focus in on those details of the actual sound source, increasing your acoustical signal to noise ratio and allowing you to use such a mic where you may not have been able to without.
You can also use it recording anything instrumental to increase isolation if you're recording more than one thing in a room at once. For example, if you're tracking guitars and drums in the same room maybe you could use the Reflexion Filter on the cab mic to reduce cymbal spill... the possibilities are endless.
