General
The name 'Super Softie' may sound innocent, but Rycote takes their technology development very seriously. The secret is 3D-Tex, a new material with a cell structure. It enhances the acoustic characteristics of your audio and allows for a transparent sound where lower frequencies come through much better. That's quite an improvement on the 'dead cat' windshields that have been used in outdoor broadcasting applications for years! The broadcasting industry has a lot to gain from this new technology, and noyt only because of the improved audio!
The practical advantages of 3D-Tex
The real strength of this windshield is the material it's made of - 3D-Tex. Reporters on location have to do their job, even if it's pouring rain outside. If it gets wet, the Super Softie is easily wrung out. If it gets dirty, it's simply a matter of rinsing it off and squeezing it dry, and then you can get back to work. This model is suitable for shotgun mics of 19-22mm thick.
