General

Once upon a time, music stores carried organs that almost always had double keyboards. As soon as keyboards and synthesizers started appearing in the same music stores, dual organs sadly went out of style. Now, Italian brand GSi has officially changed the game with this DMC-122 USB/MIDI console with dual keyboard and Gemini sound module, which is perfect for use in the studio as well as on stage. Does this mean the return of the organ keyboards for the studio? Who can say? Its organ roots are clear by the presence of drawbars, but technically speaking, these are simply MIDI controllers. The keys are also very interesting for organists due to the fact they are waterfall style, which means the edges are rounded to enable pain-free palm slides.

Properties of the GSi DMC-122

This console is so much more than just a product with two keyboards on top of each other. The DMC-122 is a comprehensive piece of equipment; besides all its buttons, potentiometers and drawbars, it also has channel aftertouch, which is still very hot in the world of MIDI! The DMC-122 is also equipped with four individual MIDI outputs, a USB/MIDI connector, and two inputs for expression and sustain pedals. To top it all off, it comes complete with special software you can use to fine-tune the various MIDI settings for an ultra-professional result.

The Gemini sound module

This version of the DMC-122 includes a sound module (Gemini) that can be placed where the fourth MIDI output is located. The result is a completely independent instrument that functions without the need for a laptop, extremely handy for use on stage! The Gemini sound module offers familiar keyboard sounds that are ideal for live performances like pianos, clavichord, string machines and, of course, lots of different organs. You'll also get a great selection of high-quality effects that are as outstanding as the sounds. It goes without saying that the DMC-122 controllers work seamlessly with the Gemini. In conclusion, the DMC-122 is really the best of two worlds and offers everything you need for a great performance on stage and in the studio.

GSi DMC-122 KIT for Stage and Studio

Tuesday 24 November 2015 By Lizanne

There have always been plenty of USB/MIDI keyboard consoles around. The National Association of Music Merchants, a.k.a NAMM, will be taking place in a couple of months, and it'll be no surprise if there are ten new USB/MIDI consoles being presented there. Have you ever wondered why all those different models have only one keyboard, though? GSi, a brand new name at Bax-shop, hope to compete with the very best keyboard manufacturers with the unveiling of their DMC-122 KIT.
