Studiologic SL88 Studio 88-Note USB/MIDI Keyboard

Coming to an SL88 from a Korg Kronos 88 (RH3 keyboard) as I’m retiring the Kronos to studio use.

Very happy with the SL88. The keyboard felt a little bit spongy after the RH3 but after getting used to it I find it a very playable action. There aren’t a lot of buttons on the SL but I actually appreciate the minimalist controls - I’ll add a dedicated control surface if needed, but for now I can do everything in software.

Compared to the Kronos the SL is very lightweight - great for gigs!

BAX decided to send an additional plug adapter for UK sockets, separately boxed and delivered, but it wasn’t needed as the SL power adapter already has suitable attachments for most countries.

Studiologic SL88 Studio 88-Note USB/MIDI Keyboard

Just started looking at scoring music to film and my old Alesis QX49 just didn't cut the mustard. Did my research for an affordable, yet quality keyboard/midi controller that was almost piano like in it's feel. Shopping around I discovered that not only are there a lot of choices to be made, most reviews about the SL88 Studio were very good for the price of the instrument, but could I heck get anywhere that had one in stock. Until I discovered that Bax had stock and it was significantly cheaper than anywhere else. So I took the plunge, ordered the keyboard, and just a few days later it arrived. Straight out of the box, it was set up in minutes and I was amazed at how good a build quality it was. Sturdy metal case and very realistic feeling keys. When playing it as a piano through my DAW, the touch was fantastic. The simplicity of the controls was a revelation with no sign of a mod wheel or dial and three modern looking switches stood in their place. They did carry the job out very well in my opinion. The colour screen and navigation buttons were intuitive and easy to use/navigate with the accompanying SL Editor software allowing easy control of even the most deepest of settings like the aftertouch, key sensitivity etc... I was surprised that the whole thing runs off the USB of my computer without a separate power supply even though there was a one supplied. Very happy with this sturdy and extremely well balanced keyboard that is excellent value for money.

Studiologic SL88 Studio 88-Note USB/MIDI Keyboard

Great keyboard to play. One of the best Midi Controllers I've played that feels like playing a real piano. The keys are weighted and great to play. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any assignable midi buttons/sliders etc. So if you want to sync it up with your DAW or MainStage for performance, you'll have to control everything from the laptop/desktop, instead of from the keyboard. Has multiple pedal sockets at the back to enable you to have all 3 damper pedals. Pitch bend takes some getting used to compared to normal pitch bends, but it works. Good videos on Youtube telling you how to use. Highly recommend to pianists wanting a piano feel but less techy stuff.

Lange, dergelijke kabel die doet wat hij moet doen. Connectors kijken oke, maar dat zal de tijd moeten uitwijzen. Wat kun je er verder over zeggen?
