Wrote the following about Studiologic SL73 MK2 USB/MIDI keyboard

Na eerst een MIDI keyboard met synth action te hebben geprobeerd, heb ik uiteindelijk toch voor deze controller gekozen, omdat ik de neiging heb om synthesizer- of waterfall klavieren te hard te bespelen. Aanpassing van de aanslaggevoeligheid helpt dan niet echt, omdat dan feitelijk je velocity range wordt verkleind, met verlies aan nuance als gevolg. Voor mij is dit keyboard een goed compromis, en daar bedoel ik niets negatiefs mee. Althans, wat het keyboard zelf betreft. De bespreekbaarheid is goed, hij is niet te zwaar en voor mijn toepassing kan ik met de vier encoders en twee sticks goed uit de voeten. Orgel glissando's zijn wat lastiger, maar te doen. Niet iets waar ik mijn keuze door zou laten bepalen, maar voor iemand anders misschien wel belangrijk. De meegeleverde vst instrument software is zeker niet slecht en laat ook zien dat je met de encoders meer kan dan alleen maar 4 midi CC's aansturen. Ik gebruik deze Studiologic echter als 2e keyboard voor mijn workstation, dus zal de software vermoedelijk weinig gebruiken.
De audio interface is erg handig, bijvoorbeeld als je dit keyboard gebruikt met een laptop of iPhone als klankbron, maar ik heb er nog geen ervaring mee opgedaan.

Helaas toch ook wat minpunten. De meegeleverde usb C kabel bleek een lichte brom te veroorzaken. Gelukkig met een van mijn eigen kabels direct verholpen. De online handleiding is gewoon slecht. Het is grotendeels een opsomming van de functies maar er wordt maar heel weinig toegelicht, bijvoorbeeld over de twee instellingen voor gevoeligheid van de toetsen. Hoe moeilijk kan het zijn om dit wat uit te diepen? De program manager software is rudimentair en voegt voor mij weinig waarde toe aan de settings knoppen op het keyboard zelf, behalve dat je je programs wat makkelijker kunt verplaatsen. Echt een tegenvaller is dat de mk2 alleen midi Program Change verzendt, maar niet ontvangt. Iets wat de vorige generatie wel deed. Hopelijk wordt dit bij een volgende firmware update verholpen.
Kortom, een fijn keyboard op zich zelf, ook om mee te nemen met je laptop naar een jamsessie of gig, maar eromheen is ruimte voor verbetering.
