General
Ik Multimedia's iRing - a wireless motion controller that's compatible with your Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch - enables you to create music and control effects with simple hand gestures. The iRing is a double-sided ring with a pattern of dots on each side, which can easily be clasped between your fingers. A special iRing FX/Controller app recognises the dot patterns, enabling you to control six different parameters. Moving your hands across the screen controls the X and Y axes, while moving your hands from and towards the screen controls the Z axis.
Applications
The iRing FX/Controller app - which can be downloaded for free via the App store - converts the movements of your hands into MIDI information, which is then transmitted to your music apps. Also included in the software is an Inter-App Audio multi-effect that offers a choice of sixteen effects, such as filter, delay, compression, reverb and wah. Another free app, iRing Music Maker, allows you to produce loop-oriented tracks.
