Microphones have a tendency of making people a little uncomfortable. Luckily, the IK Multimedia iRig Mic Lav lavalier microphone for iOS and Android seems much less intimidating than a full-sized handheld microphone. You simply attach it to a piece of clothing, and you can record the voice of your interviewee in crystal-clear quality. The cleverest part of it all is the interface, which allows you to record everything on your phone, and monitor the audio at the same time.

iRig Mic Lav: Handsfree crystal clear recording

Of course you want the best possible audio quality, but lugging around an entire recording studio's worth of equipment is ludicrous. Enter the iRig Mic Lav: which places the capabilities of a recording studio in the palm of your hand. Its omnidirectional microphone picks up everything between 30 Hz and 16 kHz. If it's windy out, simply cover it with the included foam pop shield. Any sound the mic picks up is sent through the 150cm-long cable to the interface that is connected to your phone, tablet or laptop, where you have one of IK Multimedia's handy apps running. What's more, if you want to listen back to the audio as you're recording, you can simply hook a set of headphones up to the iRig!

Recording or presenting

We've already established that recording audio is a breeze using the iRig, but it's also a great tool for presentations. All you'll need is a portable speaker of some sort, and an app to convert the signal. It's a great tool for small-scale presentations! Furthermore, if you have a co-presenter or someone you'd like to engage in conversation with on stage, you can easily hook up a second iRig Mic Lav. Simply toggle the switch on the interface from 'monitor' to 'input', and you're ready for your presentation or interview.
