The Fender vintage bridge cover for Jazz Bass, or ashtray, originally housed a piece of felt or rubber to mute the strings to imitate the muted sound and short sustain of a double bass. That wasn't a great success. The looks however, were. This large piece of chrome-plated metal brandishing Fender's famous F logo engraving made bass guitars look extra smart. Nowadays, you can find this bridge cover in combination with the pickup cover on American Vintage series bass guitars. Add that striking '60s and '70s touch to your Jazz Bass!
