MicW's i436 is a high-grade miniature microphone plug that you can use in combination with your Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This professional condenser microphone is ideal for sound engineers and musicians. Would you like to quickly analyse the frequency or sound level in the studio or on stage? Do you want to record the vocals and instruments of your band? With the i436 you can do it on the fly. Simply plug it in and use one of the many separately available apps, such as Sound Level Meter, Real Time Analyzer (RTA) and Recording apps. The i436 is even compatible with Apple laptops!
MicW i436: extraordinary performance
This small, lightweight microphone has an omni-directional pick-up pattern with a flat frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which enables it to make accurate, undistorted recordings. It is fully 'plug and play' and is fitted with a 4-pin mini jack connector. The i436 has been carefully calibrated by the manufacturer and meets the IEC61672 class 2 standards for sound pressure meters, ensuring a long life and optimal operation. LET OP: de kwaliteit van je metingen is 100% afhankelijk van de gebruikte software!
De iPhone en iPad heeft een HPF over zowel de interne als een extern aangesloten mic (via de minijack-input, dus relevant in deze) die vanaf 200 Hz zo'n 12dB/octaaf filtert. Vanaf iOS 6 is dit filter softwarematig te omzeilen door 3d party-apps, maar dan moeten ze dat wel geïmplementeerd hebben.
Verwacht dus niet dat je met de gratis/goedkope RTA-, SPL- en FFT-apps een eerlijke meting krijgt! Vooral niet als ze al meer dan een jaar niet geupdate zijn. Let hier dus heel erg op voordat je een app download / aanschaft.
Op dit moment gebruik ik een aantal goedkope apps (JL Audio - gratis, en Octave - 2,59 o.i.d.) welke beiden dit filter niet compenseren. Ik heb wel contact met de developer van Octave en hij zal - zodra hij hier tijd voor heeft - hier naar gaan kijken.
Ik neem aan - ook gezien diverse reviews op Youtube - dat de duurdere pakketten geen last hebben van dit filter. Dan heb ik het over Analyzer en de diverse Faber Audio-pakketten.
Desondanks is deze mic prima te gebruiken met de goedkope pakketten vanaf 200 Hz en hoger :)
