Eventide presents the H9 Max Harmonizer, which gives you the famous studio-grade sounds of the popular Factor series stomp boxes: 61 effects of the Space, Pitchfactor, Modfactor and Timefactor pedals. Additionally, you can use an exclusive UltraTap Delay, a Resonator and an EQ Compressor. Moreover, you can wirelessly connect the H9 Max to Apple devices via Bluetooth, so you can use the Eventide stomp box to make, edit and control presets via your iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Eventide H9 Max: intuitive interface

As the interface is so clear, the presets of the H9 Max are easy to edit. The big black button on this Eventide pedal changes scroll direction of the two switches. When you press the Hotknob on the top left of the pedal, the button changes into an expression pedal. Additionally, you'll gain access to the three pre-programmed parameters via the X, Y and Z knobs.

Additional options

Combine it with an optional foot switch or additional expression pedal to further expand on the options of this Eventide stomp box. A foot switch (max. three knobs) allows you to control the extra options of the H9 Max. An expression pedal allows you to control several parameters with your feet, so you'll have your hands free to play your guitar or bass guitar. Via the MIDI out/thru and in, you can control several of Eventide's effect pedals and synchronise them. Some notable features include the automatic mono/stereo detection and adjustable in and output level.

Eventide H9 Max Harmonizer Effect Processor

What more is there to be said. I can confirm that the effects in this thing are awesome. The front panel design is terrifically well thought out and easy to use (I was concerned before trying it it would be a bit oblique - but actually no it works really well). The range of effects this brings is dizzying. I will now be selling off a bunch of older pedals.

All in all while this seems expensive, when you consider what you get, the quality of the sound, and the space and hassle it will save you - it starts to look like a much, much better deal.

It is almost like it has made all the instruments I own new again for me.

Eventide H9 Max Harmonizer Effect Processor

Gekocht als een all-in-one apparaat ter vervanging van mijn oude Line6 M5. Ik zag hem staan op heel wat pedalboards van pro gitaristen en dat heeft me over de streep getrokken om hem te kopen.
Heel goede kwaliteit van de algorithmes (Modulation, delay, reverb, pitch-shifter, compressor, synth...). Elk algoritme heeft een tiental parameters om te tweaken, dus zeer veelzijdig.

Aandachtspunten voor je hem koopt:
- voor live-gebruik dien je echt wel goed over je setup na te denken: de 2 switchen (aan/uit en preset scroll) zijn wel beperkt. Je kan wel via bluetooth allerlei "setlists" op je telefoon bewaren en deze laden naar je H9. Je kan ook het aantal presets waar je doorheen kan scrollen beperken tot degene die je live nodig hebt. Ik denk zelf om er toch een MIDI controller bij te nemen om vlot te kunnen schakelen en de H9 flexibeler te gebruiken.
- Het is geen plug-en-play apparaat: de presets zijn wel bruikbaar en zeker goed voor inspiratie, maar je gaat toch willen tweaken en dat gaat niet zonder goede kennis van de parameters. Er zijn ook honderden presets via de app, waarvan je er 100 kunt laden naar je apparaat. Ik heb er al enkele uren over gedaan om gewoon door alle presets te scrollen en de bruikbare eruit te plukken.
- In principe kan je maar 1 effect tegelijk gebruiken, maar er zijn een aantal algoritmes die effecten combineren (MOdEchoVerb, EQ Compressor, Tremoverb, ...)
