The Valeton GP-5 is an excellent choice for guitarists seeking maximum versatility in a super-compact format. Whether you are practising at home, on stage or working in the studio - the GP-5 delivers an impressive combination of quality, mobility and ease of use. Thanks to its robust metal design and compact stompbox size, it fits effortlessly on any pedalboard. With support for wireless Bluetooth audio, an integrated tuner and easy-to-use app for iOS and Android, you can manage all your sounds quickly and efficiently - completely wirelessly. The GP-5 runs on a separately available 9VDC power supply or via USB (5V).

GP-5: creative freedom with SnapTone & IR technology

The GP-5 provides space for as many as 9 simultaneous active effect modules, including movable effects to customise your chain. With more than 100 high-quality effects based on HD digital modelling, you're always in the right place, whether you're looking for classic sounds or modern experiments. In addition, the GP-5 supports loading third-party cabinet IRs (up to 20 files) as well as importing NAM files via SnapTone technology. You get 50 carefully crafted SnapTone presets as standard, with room for 80 in total. You can also use 100 patch slots (50 of which are factory presets) to store your favourite sounds.

Smart controls

Despite its small size, the Valeton GP-5 rivals larger systems in terms of operation. The colour screen provides a clear and intuitive overview of your patches and settings. The programmable LED footswitch can be set for several modes: Patch, Songlist, Stomp CTL or Tuner (Bypass). Thereby, you have the choice of digital or full analogue bypass. Use as an audio interface is also cleverly arranged: via USB, you easily connect it to Windows, Mac or mobile devices for recording, playback or editing.

Ik gebruik de GP-5 nu een tijdje, als vervanger voor de Tonex met dezelfde soort functionaliteit. Waarom ik de Valor verkies boven de Tonex is de eenvoudige user interface en snel gebruik kunnen maken van de tuner. Deze werkt bij de Valor fijner met display van kleur en letters i.p.v. lampjes op de Tonex. De meest functionele eigenschap vind ik de Bluetooth koppeling met mijn iPhone. Snel wisselen van presets en in- en uitschakelen van gebruikte pedalen binnen een patch. Dat lukt bij de Tonex alleen via de aansluiting op de computer. Qua geluid en andere mogelijkheden zijn beiden naar mijn mening gelijk, maar voor deze prijs is de GP-5 een no brainer.

Mijn eerste "pedaal" en voor deze lage prijs heb ik alle effecten die ik maar wens, met een tuner. Ik kan nu oefenen zonder versterker, dus met maar 3 kabels en een Koptelefoon. Klinkt fantastisch! Ook de drumcomputer is interessanter dan enkel met metronoom spelen.

In een live setting lijkt dit niet de beste oplossing maar schijn bedriegt! Met een midi pedaal(ik heb de Morningstar 6 pro) zijn alle functies aan te sturen. Je maakt je presets met de Valeton editor op telefoon/tablet/pc en midi doet de rest. De geluiden zijn gewoon goed, zeker als je ze naar eigen smaak tweakt. Bedenkt daarbij wel dat het uit een ‘doosje’ ter grootte van een kwart van je telefoon is met de prijs van een tiende van diezelfde telefoon! Natuurlijk hoor je verschil met een amp met analoge pedalen maar als oefen rig of backup is dit geniaal. Als je je presets goed programmeert, kun je de GP-5 voor elke stijl inzetten.
