SKB Static Shock Rack 5U flight case

General

The SKB Static Shock Rack 5U is a complete shock-mount rack transport case designed to protect and transport sensitive 19-inch rack equipment. The floating internal structure significantly reduces shocks and vibrations, making it ideal for fragile electronics whilst on tour, during installation or for hire. The case is designed to withstand rough handling and is also water- and dust-proof. This makes it a reliable choice when your rack gear is frequently on the move and you don’t want to take any risks with impact, moisture or dirt.

Internal rack construction to EIA-310

Inside is a sturdy, lightweight chassis made from aluminium alloy extrusions with 11-gauge hot-rolled carbon steel rack rails that comply with EIA-310. The 3RS series has a standard 19-inch rack width (EIA/ECA-310-E) and a rail-to-rail depth of 20 inches. The square-hole rack rails are compatible with both #10-32 (US) and 6 mm (international) cage nuts, which are supplied. The 2-inch-deep front and rear panels provide extra space for longer equipment, whilst the ‘sway’ in the frame aids air circulation and heat dissipation.

Tour-ready enclosure, stackable and expandable

The exterior is made from rotomoulded LMDP (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) and meets or exceeds MIL-STD 810H: lightweight, strong and highly resistant to impact, heat and chemicals. It features four spring-loaded comfort-grip handles, recessed stainless steel hardware with a black powder-coated finish, an automatic pressure relief valve and gasket-sealed lids with lid hangers. This case is stackable with SKB 3RR and 3RS cases (and similar models). Wheels are not fitted as standard; alternatively, an SKB 3RR-RCB caster platform is available. The standard isolators are suitable for a payload of 40–150 lb (optional 160–300 lb via SKB).
