This Dynacord D8 is a two-way passive speaker made of lightweight synthetic material with an 8-inch woofer fitted with a neodymium magnet, giving it more power at less weight, making it the perfect speaker for mobile applications. However, it is also an excellent choice for fixed installations in pubs or auditoriums, for instance.
The Dynacord D8: Multi-Talented Shorty
On the back of the D8 are two SpeakOn connectors that allow you to link it to an amplifier, a powered mixer or an active subwoofer. The D8 has a handle on one side, making it easy to carry this cabinet – which weighs less than 9 kilos . Moreover, its slanted side allows you to use the D8 as a floor monitor. This speaker has a large beam angle of 90 x 90 degrees and a clear, defined sound. Naturally, its bass isn't as powerful as that of its bigger brother, the D12, but it is still a great device for smaller performances.
Safe Use of the D8
Both the woofer and the compression driver of the D8 are protected against overheating. Its internal circuit monitors the speakers' voltage and reduces the power that is sent to them if they're at risk of being overloaded. This system is called voice coil tracking protection and prevents annoying clicks and pop sounds. It will reset itself if the coil's temperature cools down to safe levels, allowing for a problem-free, safe use of the D8 D-Lite series.
