JBL JRX225 Dual 15" Full-Range Speaker

JBL's JRX225 is a passive two-way, dual 15-inch full-range speaker - this beast does exactly what its name suggests. The speaker box produces full, dynamic bass with two 15-inch woofers; so much bass in fact that there is no need to add a subwoofer. JBL's quasi three-way system means that the filter settings of this speaker cabinet allow the top woofer to produce the mid-bass frequencies and the bottom woofer the sub-bass tones. Everything above 2 kHz is dealt with by the 1-inch 2414H-C driver, a very reliable tweeter which puts up an amazing performance.

The Sound of the JRX225

This speaker has a balanced tonal range, a maximum power of 500 Watts RMS (2,000W peak) and can handle an immense sound pressure level of up to 133 dB. These specs make the JRX 225 a perfect speaker for parties, DJ setups or bands, for example. For optimal performance, couple this speaker with an amplifier with a power output between 500 and 1,000 Watts at 4 Ohms is recommended.

Housing

The housing of the JBL JRX225 is made with 19mm thick MDF panels, covered by black fabric. These panels are joined with glue and screws to make sure that the speaker can handle short drops, bumps and scrapes. Combined with its low weight of just 42.6 kilos, the JRX225 is perfect for mobile setups. What's more, the housing's resonance is kept as low as possible - even the handles are made completely out of steel to prevent them from vibrating - and the result is a delightfully tight sound for this price range.
